ATR – Day 9: Now in Ranthambore; Red Panda, our large red vehicle, introduced on camera

October 9, 2023 - ATR – Day 9: Now in Ranthambore; Red Panda, our large red vehicle, introduced on camera

Monday, 10:30 PM

Ranthambore Regency,

Sawai Madhopur,

Ranthambore, Rajasthan

The day was light today, and much of it was spent on the road and doing things that one has to do during a trip. So we got up late, having slept late as the video editing and other related stuff took a lot of time.

We left Dholpur for Sawai Madhopur, Ranthambore, Rajasthan, which is where we were to stay on our visit to the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve. But before leaving, we made a detailed video, introducing Red Panda, our vehicle on ATR — so named for being a large red truck. We also adorned Red Panda with a few ATR stickers to its side to make it look even more a part of ATR.

On the way, Harsh, our video editor, was editing the video on the go. Being on the move is not exactly conducive to video editing, which was one of the reasons why today’s video is, once again, delayed. We are still working on our workflow to ensure that the daily VLOGs are uploaded on a set time, but since we are constantly on the move, it has been quite a challenging task so far.

Late evening, we arrived in Ranthambore and checked into the Ranthambore Regency, after which we went to meet the DFO, Ranthambore just to give him a heads-up that we were soon going to come up with a request to interview him so that we know the perspective of the forest department on the challenges of maintaining a Tiger Reserve and the ways in which they deal with them. Each tiger reserve has its own complications, and the forest department has to tailor its approach to managing the reserves accordingly. He has agreed to be interviewed. We’ll be scheduling the interview soon.

We have just returned to the hotel, and had dinner (the halwa was remarkable and we helped ourselves to it wholeheartedly), and now we are again editing another video to upload. We have two safaris tomorrow and just as many videos to upload, like always. Let’s see how that goes.

PS: Just a minor correction. We met the DFO of Dholpur-Karauli Tiger Reserve, and the Dholpur-Karauli Tiger Reserve, Ranthambore Tiger Reserve – 2 (RTR 2) and Ranthambore Tiger Reserve have their own separate DFOs. The information published yesterday in this respect had an error, which has been rectified.
