Monkeys are common but I like this picture for the backlit glow around the monkeys, which gives the picture its unusual halo effect. This was taken at Bhagwan Mahaveer Wildlife Sanctuary in South Goa, which we visited during ATR because of all the wildlife it supports inside and around. The picture also highlights one of the disappointing effects of close human-animal interaction. The monkey kid is trying to nibble on a plastic straw. We need to do a better job of not throwing plastic waste around protected areas to prevent harm to the animals.
